No place to go: lyrics and rest as an act of defiance

tinaboonstra

Sometimes I can get caught up in the news. The injustice of it all, it can feel so overwhelming

Sometimes in face of really hard things, when you don’t know what to do, the bravest thing you can do is rest. Sometimes surrendering into rest is the bravest thing you can do. Resting isn’t shutting yourself off to the pain in the world forever. Resting is taking the time to recover, so that you can give again.

Someone smarter than me can probably explain the subtle difference between numbing the pain and taking a break from it for a while - I can't always tell. But I guess this song is about giving myself permission to slow down even when there’s a fight on.

No place to go

by Tina Boonstra

Turn off the news, I can’t take anymore

Of good people fighting and shouting for war

The world is on fire, I know I know

But tonight you and me, we got no place to go

Pour out a glass and turn down the lights

Pull in me closer and look in my eyes

The world is on fire, I know, I know

But tonight you and me we got no place to go

No place to go

No place to go

No place to go

No place to go

Lay down your fears, of trouble ahead

Then in the morning, we’ll face them again

The world is on fire, I know I know

But tonight you and me, we got no place to go
